Thank you for thinking about our Insulated Window Shades.  The following explains a quick estimate of cost, knowing that this is only an approximation. All estimates are for the price of the shade only. Taxes and shipping charges are extra. All shades are made to your custom measurements and are prepaid.

Measuring your window:
1.Measure the part of the window you want to cover.
2.Add two inches to the width of the window for the adjusted width. (We usually add 1" or more to each side so that the window and trim are completely covered. Using this measurement give you the most insulation value.)
3.Add approximately 12" to the height of the window for the adjusted height. (We usually place the shade 9" above the top of the window glass and 3" below the window. If you have lower window sills that protrude out into the room, do not add 3" below the window but have the bottom of the shade rest on the sill. If you are covering a door, the shade must be placed higher so that the shade does not interfere with the top of the door.)

Estimating the shade cost:
1. Use your adjusted width and height measurements to arrive at a shade cost. Please send your measurements with an explanation of what you did to our Email address for an estimate. This is then an approximate cost of your shade. The measurement and cost can be fine tuned when placing your order. Taxes and shipping are additional costs and will be determined upon your Insulated Window Shade order.
2. If you have your own fabric for the inner cover of the Insulated Window Shade, you will have to mail us a sample. And, we can give you an estimate and final cost when ordering. Taxes and shipping are additional costs and will be determined upon your Insulated Window Shade order.

We hope to give you a great product and service to make you one of our satisfied customers. The Insulated Window Shade is a roman shade style product. The Insulated Window Shade outside cover, located next to the window and seen from the outside, is made of our stock off-white drapery lining.  Please send us your mailing address to see our free, in-house drapery fabric, color samples. Remember you can also contact us about using your fabrics for the inside cover of an Insulated Window Shade. It should be noted that to eliminate a saggy look stretchy fabric materials should not be used. We have found that a cotton, or a cotton blend, fabric works and looks great for the Insulated Window Shade inner cover. This product keeps heat inside in the winter and outside in the summer. It also does a great job in keeping noise and light out too.

The insulation value of Insulated Window Shades is supplied by the insulation material located between the inner and outer covers and the covers themselves. This insulation material is a double bubble plastic with a double reflective foil. Insulated Window Shades uses all three insulation properties for insulation values. These properties are conduction or heat flow through a material, convection or heat flow with air movement, and radiation or heat transfer with infrared waves. Conduction heat flow is heat going directly through the insulated window shade, either from the inside or the outside. Convection heat flow is warm air blocked by the insulated window shade from reaching the outside or the inside of the home. The heat transfer with infrared waves is blocked with the foil reflective coatings either from the inside or the outside of the home. The associated R-Value of an Insulated Window Shade is between R-4 and R-6.
